The Mayor of Newham, Sir Robin Wales, has donated a selection of gifts to the Toy Appeal.

He handed over the toys and games to Paula Blake and Blue Coker from Canning Town-based charity Community Links at the council’s Royal Docks offices.

Sir Robin said: “Community Links supports some of Newham’s most vulnerable people. Every year the appeal aims to provide each child they help with a Christmas stocking of new gifts.

“We know that times are tough for many of our residents and I am delighted to once again be able to do my bit to support this very worthwhile appeal.

“This is a very busy time of year but I encourage everyone to spare a thought for those children who without this appeal will have no gifts this Christmas.

“It doesn’t take much to add one more toy to the list when buying gifts for your loved ones. Any support you can offer the appeal is welcomed.”
