The Rolling Stones are returning to Stratford’s London Stadium, it was announced this week.
But those with a sharp memory will recall a previous visit to the borough which didn’t go off without a hitch.
The Stones were on their way back from a gig at the Romford Cinema in 1965 when they pulled up to Francis service station in Stratford.
Singer Mick Jagger, then 21, guitarist Bill Jones and bassist Bill Wyman got out the car and demanded to use the toilet.
When the attendant refused, sensing trouble, Jagger swore at the man and the three rockstars proceeded to urinate beside the garage.
The group were arrested and four months later fined £5 each by West Ham Magistrates Court.
Their appearance this time round has already sparked controversy, with fans left outraged at the price of tickets.
They range from just under £90 for unreserved standing, up to £249.95 for gold circle standing and £275 for hospitality packages.
Tickets go on sale on March 2 for the gig on Tuesday, May 22.
