The green turf is still there, as are a pair of turrets – but no sign of the thousands of claret and blue-clad fans that cheered on their team.

These photographs, released by developers Barratt London, show the future of West Ham’s former Upton Park home.

Renamed Upton Gardens, the development will see 842 homes spread across 18 buildings of between three and 13 storeys.

It will also feature several communal roof terraces, a library, play areas and a number of commercial units.

At the centre of the development is the legacy route, which marks the location of the Boleyn Ground’s centre circle with a paved courtyard.

Tower gatehouses will sit in the same position as the iconic yellow turrets at the former stadium entrance.

The memorial garden and tree will be retained, with sculptures of legendary people connected to the club set to be commissioned to stand along the legacy route.

Pam Reardon, sales director at Barratt London, said: “A great deal of thought has gone into the design of Upton Gardens to ensure the legacy of the site, with its historical significance and importance to West Ham Football Club, is preserved.

“We are confident that the legacy route will ensure the spirit of the site lives on and we have taken care to retain the memorial garden for those commemorating loved ones affiliated with West Ham United.”

The Upton Gardens development has now officially launched, with prices starting from £350,000 for a one bedroom apartment.
