Thames Water apologises to Stratford Centre businesses for flooding as it prepares to pay compensation

Thames Water has apologised to more than 50 businesses they look set to have to pay compensation to after a burst water main closed the Stratford Centre.
In a statement the company said it would “encourage businesses who feel they are entitled to compensation for either damage caused or loss of business” to get in touch.
Emergency services were called at 9.17am on Sunday, July 30 to reports of flooding and at its peak water reached a depth of eight inches in the Broadway.
Whilst the flood water was cleared before 5pm the shopping centre was closed for much of the following day.
The spokesman added: “Immediately following the flooding, our loss adjusters spoke to every single business and offered them assistance.
“We’re sorry for the disruption caused and will help in any way we can to get things back to normal.”
In total 56 shops were affected by the flooding and 52 are claiming through their own insurer.
