The Rifles, from G Company Battalion based at the TA Centre in Portway, West Ham, helped to launch a new recruitment campaign in the shopping complex by airing advertisements live from military operations in Afghanistan.

To kick off the TA Live campaign, the reservists played live links of around a minute at a time to transport shoppers directly to the front line where they were able to witness TA soldiers carrying out their everyday duties alongside their counterparts in the infantry.

Sergeant Kevin O’Gorman, 32, who has completed operational tours in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan, said: “G Company at Portway are holding our own TA Live open evenings each Tuesday evening over the next month, and a big event on March 26 at the TA Centre, so anyone can pop along or call.”
