Leyton Orient interim manager Kevin Nugent has plenty of defensive headaches to ponder as he takes his side to Doncaster Rovers tonight.

The O’s, already short on numbers, saw skipper Nathan Clarke pick up his fifth booking of the season in the goalless draw against MK Dons on Saturday, while Mathieu Baudry saw red for two bookable offences and both will miss tonight’s match.

“It’s going to be tough for us there but we are down to the bare bones anyway with seven would be first team players out already or unavailable for the MK Dons match with Jobi McAnuff as well,” said Nugent.

“And now there are two out for Tuesday so it’s going to be tough.

“You saw it again against MK Dons but I keep going on about the spirit of these lads. If you are going to get yourself out of trouble you need that spirit.

“It’s not going to be perfect beautiful football every week. It doesn’t work like that you need to build confidence and pick up points.”

Nugent could well bring full backs Scott Cuthbert and Shane Lowry into the heart of the Orient defence, while Elliot Omozusi could operate at left back and Bradley Pritchard may feature at right back.

One returnee will be Jobi McAnuff after the midfielder served his one-match ban for his sending-off against Sheffield United, but the likes of Gary Sawyer (tendonitis), Lloyd James (broken leg), Dean Cox (knee), Kevin Lisbie (shoulder) and David Mooney (hamstring) are all likely to miss out.

Italian striker Gianvito Plasmati signed for the O’s on Sunday, but isn’t thought to be fit enough to be included in the matchday squad.

For Doncaster, defender Rob Jones remains out through injury, but boss Paul Dickov is set to ring the changes for Rovers after a 3-1 defeat at Fleetwood Town on Saturday.
