Coffee-lovers of Plaistow rejoice – there’s a new cafe in town.

Nota Bene, in Plaistow Road, opened after its director, Rumen Vladimirov, decided he wanted a change in his life.

“I was thinking I’d like to work for myself,” the 39-year-old Bulgarian said.

“We are offering the usual stuff – cappuccinos, teas, espressos – but we’ve also got nice homemade lemonade.”

After the cafe’s opening on Friday last week, Rumen said his first customers were impressed by its decor.

“People seemed to like the way it looks – they were saying how nice and clean it was,” he said.

And while Note Bene is aiming to cater for all kinds of customer, it is going to have at least one unique offering from Rumen’s homeland.

“Very soon we’re going to have someone come in from Bulgaria to teach us how to make Bulgarian bread,” he said.

“He will have to show us where to store it and what temperature to have it at – it will be a good skill to have.”
