Talks are due tomorrow between CityJet and GMB union representatives to avert strike action by ground staff at London City Airport.

The staff are threatening to walk out over terms and conditions of employment with agency Aviation Resources, and provide checking in and dispatch services for airlines CityJet, Air France and KLM. The union has said CityJet has refused to sanction a pay raise despite the level of inflation since 2008.

Although staff have already been given the go-ahead to take action, CityJet were urged to come to the negotiating table after the first set of talks last Monday between GMB and the agency at ACAS.

A strike ballot has been postponed pending the outcome of the talks.
