A report on the so called ‘super sewer’ planned by Thames Water to bring an end to millions of gallons of polluted water being discharged into river Thames after heavy rainfalls, is published today (Oct 31) by the Thames Tunnel Commissioners.
The report by Lord Selborne is expected to cover “sensible alternatives” to the controversial 3.6bn tunnel plan which has led to fears over spiralling water bills and residents’ protests over the loss of open space and regeneration sites.
The 20-mile long tunnel will run from west to east London and the giant sewage treatment works at Beckton.
