A group of business students helped colleagues from different courses use business ideas to raise money for a children’c hospice.
Thirty Peter Jones Enterprise Academy students at Newham College helped 15 others raise £290.48 for Richard House Children’s Hospice, in Beckton.
Students from travel and tourism, health and social care, and other courses learned about business and had their confidence boosted.
Over one day, they raised money from college staff and students by washing their cars, selling cakes, nail and henna painting. They also rattled their collection boxes.
The enterprise students helped them to work out their business ideas and to put them in practice. Student, Aiga Lorence said: “It’s been a great pleasure to raise money for those in need.”
Alexis Charles, the College’s Peter Jones Enterprise Academy manager, said: “The students from other courses had no experience in enterprise so it was a challenge. But the fact that they were able to make money from their business ideas shows that they benefited from the project.
“They will be able to apply this knowledge to their own area of study.”
