Students studying interior decorating and design visited the flagship building in Canning Town’s regeneration scheme on Wednesday to inspire their career path.
Young people on the Painting & Decorating and Art & Design courses at Hackney College grabbed the chance for an away day to visit the Vermilion building, a distinctive red residential development on the site of the old Rathbone Market. Vermilion is the centrepiece for Newham Council’s £180m regneration scheme to boost the prospects of the area.
The student got to quiz Zooey Harris and Allison Williamson, from Amplus Interiors Group who did the interior design, and sit in a workshop to find out how to take a client’s brief through to reality.
They also got a sneak peak of the new show apartment before taking part in a competition to design a similar room themselves.
