A school is set to expand by opening a new building which is a five minute walk from its original site.

The Stratford School Academy building on Upton Lane is in the process of being completed and will include a provision for pupil’s with Autism.

The school, which is on Grosvenor Road, will be divided in two after the October half term and from then on operate as two mini schools, accommodating 750 pupils on each site.

Head teacher Andrew Seager, said: “This is a very exciting time for us – finally our pupils are going to get the buildings they deserve.

“There a lots of advantages to being a large school but it is all too easy for pupils to get ‘lost’ and feel anonymous.

“We think our mini school solution is the way to get the best of both worlds for our pupils – they will feel they are in a small school where everyone knows each other but they will benefit from the resources available at a large school.”

An open evening took place on September 29 where teachers were able to explain the expansion of the school to prospective year six parents and carers.
