Legacy planners to reveal future of athletics venue

Next month Olympic Park legacy chiefs will formally submit their proposals on the future of the London 2012 stadium.

But visitors to Stratford Library in the Grove this Saturday can view the scheme and talk to the planners from the London Legacy Development Corporation.

Existing plans requires the stadium’s capacity to be reduced to 25,000 seats but with the awards of the 2017 World Athletics Championships to London it is now proposed that the venue be retained with the ability to stage different sports for up to 60,000 spectators and concerts for 80,000 people.

Also planned is the development of a separate six lane athletics community track.

No decision has yet been taken on the future tenants, say the LLDC.
