A team of lawyers from Stratford will join fellow legal professionals, magistrates and judges on a march for justice on Monday.

The group from Blavo & Co Solicitors, in Romford Road, will take part in the annual London Legal Walk – a 10km sponsored hike in aid of the London Legal Support Trust (LLST), rasing funds for free legal services.

Up to 8,000 walkers from 500 teams are expected to join in the fun – including judges, magistrates and Supreme Court president Lord Neuberger – with the Stratford group joined by colleagues from the firm’s other London branches.

Solicitor Katarzyna Jurkun, who organised the team, said: “We’re taking part because we believe that everyone should have access to justice, not only those who can afford it.

“Legal aid cuts mean that some of the most vulnerable people cannot afford legal representation, including many on low incomes.

“Those who are not eligible cannot afford solicitors and have no other option but to deal with issues themselves, which is particularly unfair when the proceedings are in court and they have to go before the judge on their own.”

The team from Blavo & Co are participating for the second time and aim to beat last year’s total of £940.
