Passengers are facing "severe delays" between Stratford and Bethnal Green after a person was hit by a train at Bow Junction, according to police and transport services.

British Transport Police have confirmed that a man has been pronounced dead at the scene and officers are now working to identify him and inform family. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

All above ground lines are said to be blocked while emergency services deal with the incident. The disruption is expected to last up until 8pm with services subject to cancellation and delays of up to 90 minutes.

Transport for London has warned rush hour commuters that Stratford station is “extremely busy”.

Mainline operator Abellio Greater Anglia is affected as are TfLR Rail and London Overground services. The Central and Jubilee lines appear to be currently operating a good service however.

British Transport Police have confirmed that they are “responding to reports of a person hit by a train”.

A spokesman for Abellio Greater Anglia said: “A person was hit by a train between Bethnal Green and Stratford at Bow Junction, by the 4pm train from London Liverpool Street to Norwich.

“Services have currently been suspended on this part of the line while emergency services deal with the incident.”

Operator C2C are said to be accepting passengers with Abellio Greater Anglia tickets on reasonable alternative routes until further notice. Passengers are advised to keep checking for updates.
