Newham’s MPs were among those who enjoyed a cultural event with a Russian flavour when a community project showcased its achievements.
The event was organised by the Znaniye school at Sarah Bonnell school in Stratford to highlight some of the achievements of its students since it was set up as a community project 10 years ago.
West Ham MP Lyn Brown and Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham were among the guests who also included Natasha Hart from Newham All Star Sports Academy, NASSA, who carried the Olympic Torch last year.
The Znaniye school operates at Sarah Bonnell, teaching more than 100 Newham children Russian on Saturdays with many taking the subject as a GCSE.
Natasha, who also comes from Russia, said the school maintained very high standard and the event gave them a chance to celebrate its achievements. It also has a very strong relationship with NASSA.
