The London International Gospel Choir, which holds rehearsals in Stratford, Notting Hill and Islington, sang at the Southbank Centre last week ahead of the former First Lady’s interview.

The evening was chaired by author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who spoke to Ms Obama about being a role model for young women, and her experience meeting the Queen.

Last month, Ms Obama’s memoir became the best-selling book released this year.

A spokeswoman from the choir said: “This is one of LIGC’s proudest moments and is only a few weeks after we sang for the Mayor of London’s Remembrance Service at City Hall. LIGC is a non-audition choir so everyone is welcome - we are a complete mix of amateur and professional vocalists from all ages and backgrounds.”

The choir’s next gig will be at the Salvation Army’s Regent Hall on December 8. Tickets are available here.
