Developers have welcomed planners’ decision to defer consideration of their application to build a large student accommodation block.
Catalyst Capital submitted plans for a mixed use development on the site of Morgan House, next to Stratford Centre. They also included a 27-storey block of 648 student accommodation units, a supermarket plus a café, three retail units and a car park.
Developers asked Newham Council’s strategic development committee to delay its consideration of the plans until they amended proposals to take account of planners concerns raised over the plans.
A spokesman for Catalyst Capital said: “We welcome the decision of Newham officers to change their advice to recommend a deferral of this application. This will allow us more time to continue our discussions with officers and other stakeholders, with a view to making amends to the proposals in order to address the concerns raised in the Officers Report.
