Central Line platforms at Stratford station have now re-opened, more than 24 hours after trains were put out of action because of a flood.
Normal service resumed between Bethnal Green and Leytonstone at 4.30pm today but the line is currently running at severe delays.
A Transport for London spokesman said the line was expected to return to normal service by the end of the day. Replacement buses are continuing to operate.
Commuters endured travel misery during rush hour yesterday and this morning after water from a burst pipe in Wick Lane fell through a ventilation shaft and flooded parts of the tracks
The disruption meant some passengers were forced to abandon trains and stand in long queues for replacement buses at Stratford station.
