Stratford bus station re-opened today in readiness for the London 2012 Games.

The important transport hub boasts new bus shelters and seating, improved footways, and better directional signage and lighting for passenger safety.

It has also had a lick of paint and the roadways have been resurfaced with improvements made to the drainage system.

Work started on August 1 and while it was closed buses used other bus stops around the town centre.

Further improvement works will continue. They are expected to be completed by next spring 2012 and will not impact on passengers using the bus station.

When fully completed the works will benefit the 20 million passengers who use the bus station every year and the many thousands of extra passengers that are expected to take he bus to the Olympic Park.
