If you’ve been served a coffee by Egle Vysniauskaite, chances are you’ve enjoyed it.

The barista has beaten off competition from 12,000 Costa staff members across the UK to be named in the top 10 nationwide.

The 28-year-old, who has worked for the chain’s Stratford Centre branch for 11 months, has already been named the best barista in the south east.

During the regional heat, Egle showed off her skills in creating a range of handcrafted coffee-based drinks that impressed the judges.

She even created her own drink, a coffee with a light mousse and a hint of cherry, as part of the process.

She was judged on her pride, passion and personality in addition to her technical knowledge.

Egle said: “I’m so happy to have won my regional heats, and to have the chance to make my store manager and team proud in the next stage of the competition.”

Later this year, she will go head to head with the other regional finalists for the chance to be named Costa’s Barista of the Year 2015.

The national champion will then take on baristas from Costa’s global branches in the champion of champions final, to be held at Tobacco Dock, Wapping, in January.

The ultimate winner will receive an 10 day holiday for two plus spending money to a country of their choosing as long as it has a connection to the coffee chain.
