Harry Potter star Imelda Staunton and celebrity gardener Charlie Dimmock are urging women to join a walk to aid a children’s hospice.
They are hoping to recruit over a thousand women in the final call for the 10-mile walk on June 25 through the stunning sites around The Docklands and through to Canary Wharf.
Imelda said: “This is a call out to all women in the East End – get your act together now and sign up for Richard House’s Midnight Walk.
“I’ve always seen Richard House as a central part of the East London community. This walk represents a fantastic opportunity for the whole community – well the women at least – to come together and give something back.”
Charlie, who is also taking part in the walk, said: “Ladies only have a few days left to sign up for the Richard House midnight walk and we’d love them to put their names down as soon as possible.
“Without fundraising efforts like this, the hospice would simply not be able to help all the children and families that it does. It does such a fantastic job and I know we all want that to continue.”
The midnight walk, which is supported by the Recorder, takes in a 10-mile route around the Docklands where every three miles participants will be whisked off into a new, cultural location.
The first stop-off will be Egypt where walkers will be startled with mirages and relics of the Pharaohs before being caught up in the smells, spices and sounds of India. The last stop will have the buoyant party atmosphere of the Caribbean.
Free parking has also been secured at London City Airport for the night so walkers can leave their cars from 10pm until the end of the walk the next morning.
To sign up, visit www.richardhouse.org/midnightwalk or call Manjeet Boparai on 0207 540 0204. Deadline is June 20.
