It’s all very mellow yellow at Stratford’s Olympic Park where a host of golden daffodils have blossomed.
The flowers have emerged during recent warmer weather and will be in bloom for the next few weeks.
They stretch along the riverside of the London 2012 Garden between the Aquatics Centre and athletics Stadium and provide a colourful interlude for staff making final preparations to seed acres of meadows.
ODA chief executive Dennis Hone, said: “With the parklands that have been created starting to flower, it is hard to imagine that they have emerged from an industrial site that was not only contaminated, but almost impossible to access in parts because of overgrowth, weeds and fly-tipping. It is a tribute to the companies and individuals who worked on the project that this could be achieved.”
Locog chief Seb Coe said: “There is a spring in our step as we work to get the Olympic Park ready to host the greatest sporting event on earth.”
