Whether you’re a football fanatic or a badminton beginner, there was something for everyone at the Market Games.

The free event, held at Queen’s Market, Upton Park, allowed young people aged nine to 19 to take part in a variety of sports.

A giant chess board was available for those wanting to exercise their brain as well as their body, while able-bodied and disabled participants alike could unite for a game of wheelchair basketball.

Yesterday’s event was organised by the council’s Green Street Community Neighbourhood Team, with the Mayor of Newham popping along to join in the fun.
