Former QPR defender departs Brisbane Road.

Leyton Orient’s sporting director Mauro Milanese has left the League One club.

Milanese arrived at Brisbane Road as part of the Francesco Becchetti takeover of the club, and was immediately apppointed sporting director.

But after Russell Slade left the club in October, and Kevin Nugent’s reign lasted just seven games, the former Italian international became the O’s third manager of the season in late October.

However, his spell at the helm lasted just eight games and Fabio Liverani was brought in as manager following a 1-0 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy area quarter-final loss at fellow League One side Gillingham.

The 43-year-old returned to his previous position as sporting director, but the club announced his departure in a statement, which read: “Sporting Director Mauro Milanese has today (Monday) left the Club. The Italian joined the Club in the summer following the takeover by Francesco Becchetti and also had a spell as manager before Fabio Liverani took charge.

“The club would like to thank Mauro for his work during his time at the O’s.”
