So sorry if we upset you Jose!

At Stamford Bridge, on Wednesday night, we witnessed a performance from the ages – a West Ham United side, made up mostly of free transfers and academy graduates, were magnificent in frustrating a Chelsea side put together for hundreds of millions of Roman’s roubles.

The battling spirit that saw the Irons come away from Cardiff City with three points was back in abundance, as the likes of Matt Taylor and Mark Noble battled and scraped for every inch in midfield, and the cult hero that is goalkeeper Adrian, came to the rescue on the rare moments he was seriously tested.

Make no mistake, despite the stats and Mourinho’s moaning, the east London club were worth their point. The vast majority of Chelsea’s efforts were from distance, they created very few genuine, clear-cut chances thanks to the bodies in claret and blue blocking and thwarting them at every turn.

I find it hilarious for a variety of reasons that Mourinho and Chelsea fans in general were so upset with West Ham’s tactics. It’s very easy to criticise the style of their opponents while sat up there in their ivory tower, whilst their sugar daddy of a benefactor pumps them full of cash to sign the finest players on the planet.

Mourinho is a hypocrite! The same tactics he deplored as from the ‘19th century’ are the very same he himself has employed this season at the Emirates and Old Trafford, as Chelsea bored their way to a couple of 0-0 draws.

As a West Ham fan, I’m proud of the performance we put on at the Bridge. Too often I’ve seen West Ham teams go there and get their tummies tickled, how refreshing it was to see those Boleyn boys rock up at the Bridge and show some guts and steal a point.

Next up its Swansea at home and that is every inch a must-win game. The battling qualities displayed at Stamford Bridge must be married in a glorious union with goals, goals, goals!

Five points separate us from the Swans, who are in 11th place, which goes to show how tight the league is. A couple of wins by hook or by crook and we could be in the relative serenity of mid-table very soon.

On Saturday, it’s time for different kind of performance, but one which is equally committed... and a final thought on moaning Mourinho’s comments – if a side put together for hundreds of millions cannot beat a side in the bottom three, spend some more dosh Jose, that’ll solve everything!
