Slade’s warning as Orient look for fourth straight win

O’s set to be unchanged for Pompey trip

Orient go looking for their fourth straight win when they travel to Portsmouth tonight.

Manager Russell Slade is likely to name an unchanged side following the club’s best away win of the season on Saturday when they triumphed 4-1 at Carlisle United.

Tonight’s game is Orient’s third in a week and after trips to play Gloucester City in the FA Cup and Carlisle in League One, they will have travelled nearly 1,200 miles when they return from Fratton Park.

“It’s another away game and it doesn’t get any easier,” admitted the Orient boss.

“We need to make sure our attitude is really bang on.”

After losing four matches in succession the O’s have won three on the trot and Slade admitted: “It just shows it’s a fine line and it doesn’t take too much to turn it around, but also by the same token it doesn’t take too much for it to drop back into that area where you’re not quite winning football matches.

“We’re mindful of that, but we hope that we’ve learned from that spell when we were losing those games.

“That hurt and it was a difficult period for us. We need to make sure and ensure we don’t go back to that.”

Portsmouth are not in the best of form and are going through a goal drought, like Orient did recently, as they have gone six games without a goal.

But Slade warned: “They might have a long-standing financial situation, but you’ve only got to look at the players somehow they’ve been able to bring in and it’s reasonably impressive for this league.

“They’ve got some good players, they’ve got experience and perhaps for one reason or another they haven’t been performing, but they’ll be wanting to put that right.

“They’re on a losing run, and we know how dangerous that is, and we know at some stage they’re going to come through that.”
