A six-year-old girl has raised £103 for a Beckton charity after donating all her birthday money.

Tasmea Ayat, from Plaistow, decided she wanted to help after hearing about the work Richard House Children’s Hospice does.

Her dad Bashar said: “I have always encouraged Tasmea to think of others but we never imagined that she would give up all her birthday gifts.

“Her actions have made me the proudest dad in London!”

And the youngster’s generosity has even inspired her friend Nabeena Ilhan to do the same on her birthday next month.

The two girls, along with their families, visited the hospice to hand over Tasmea’s cheque and see how their money will help other children.

Community and events manager Shahz Hussain said: “Tasmea has shown a strength of character far beyond her years.

“It’s such a joy to see young people getting involved with our charity and it gives hope for the future of Richard House.”
