Crews from Silvertown are among 200 firefighters tackling a raging forest fire in Berkshire.
Officers from seven county brigades are trying to damp down the blaze in Swinley Forest, near Ascot, which has been burning since Monday.
It has spread to an area of more than 300 hectares and is thought to be the largest fire Berkshire has ever seen.
One pump from Silvertown fire station, in North Woolwich Road, was sent yesterday and bosses say another may be dispatched today.
The crews have been attacking so-called “hot spots” to try to prevent the blaze flaring up and spreading.
