The entire DLR network will be shut for the entire weekend. The move is to allow new signalling work connected to next Summer’s Olympic Game, Transport for London have announced.

And among six Tube routes which will be partially affected by TfL’s network upgrade is the Hammersmith & City line which will be suspended all weekend between Barking and Royal Oak due to line upgrade work.

TfL have been criticised for closing large parts of the network on the second Remembrance Sunday in a row when thousands of serving and ex-service men and women will converge on central London for the Festival of Remembrance and Cenotaph Ceremony on Sunday.

Caroline Pidgeon, leader of the London Assembly’s Lib-Dem group and the transport committee, said the decision is “simply staggering”.

But Howard Collins, LU’s chief operating officer, said: “On Remembrance Sunday the Bakerloo, District, Jubilee, Northern and Victoria lines are all operating and serving all stations near to the Cenotaph. The Piccadilly and Central lines will also be serving central London.
