A Newham man has been charged with murder after a 44-year-old woman was discovered stabbed on Wednesday evening.

Police were called to Norfolk Road on Wednesday evening just after 7pm following reports of an unconscious woman suffering serious stab injuries in the street.

She was pronounced dead at the scene at 7.16pm.

On Thursday, January 4, Genu Armeanu, 45, of Coleridge Avenue, Manor Park was charged with murder.

Armeanu has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates Court today.

The woman’s family has been informed but a formal identification of the woman has not taken place.
