More than 150 people dressed as jolly santas completed Stratford’s second Festive Run on Saturday.

Santas, elves and Rudolphs added merry spirit to the 5k and 2k runs as they turned Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park red and white.

Coral Nourrice, athletics activator for activeNewham and the race organiser, thanked all the participants for making it a fun day.

She said: “I am always so pleased to see families take part in our fun runs and it’s so good to see children having so much fun.

“Exercise should be enjoyable, and what could be better than running round the Olympic Park dressed as Santa?”

The winners of the best dressed female and male participants were a Santa Claus with a large sack of presents and a young helper in her Santa dress.

The pair each won a tour of West Ham Stadium before the club moves to the Olympic Stadium in the summer. All runners received goody bags and a medal.

Jade Harris, assistant project manager sport, health and inclusion for the London Legacy Development Corporation, said she was delighted.

She said: “It is the second time that we have run it and it has grown so much since then. It is nice to see so many families taking part as well.”

She added that a new Easter run will be launching next year and all Easter bunnies and eggs are welcome.
