Running 10k around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is hard enough, so just imagine what it would be like doing it blindfolded.

That was the reality for participants in the Blindfold Run, held to raise money for the Royal London Society for Blind People (RLSB) on Sunday.

They were tethered to a sighted partner who acted as navigator on the course, which had 5k or 10k distance options.

Among the participants was Masterchef star Monica Galetti, who is also a patron for the charity.

She said: “I found that at first being blindfolded was quite nerve racking, but it is all about trusting the person who’s leading you.

“As you get used to it, it’s calming and relaxing, all you can feel is the wind in your face. It’s been an amazing experience.”

First held in 2014, the charity hopes it will continue to grow in popularity each year – with the 2016 event already scheduled to take place at the park.
