Runners of all ages and abilities took to the track to remember a young athlete who died in an accident 19 years ago.
The Sarah Hammond Memorial Fun Run is an annual event to remember the 24-year-old, who was a founder member of the East End Road Runners club.
Sunday’s 5km run saw about 100 people take to the track in the Terence McMillan Stadium, which is attached to Newham Leisure Centre where Sarah worked.
She was involved in athletics for most of her life and competed for Newham and Essex Beagles.
Her mum Marie Hammond said: “It went really well, and we’re close to raising £1,000 for Barts and the Royal London charity.
“We had a lot of the East End Road Runners turn up, which was great.”
