Choreographer and fitness instructor Rachel Johnson moved to London two years ago to follow her dream of making dance shows.

Now the 26-year-old from Britannia Village, Royal Docks, has just finished touring her multi-arts show Sunrise Experience.

She told the Recorder: “If you go back to when I was little and what I playing as a child, I was always making up dances and making my parents sit together and watch them – even though they were probably long-winded.”

Originally from North Shields, near Newcastle, Rachel moved to the capital to study dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in Greenwich, which she says helped give her an “east London mentality” and encouraged her to put on her own show in London.

“We have been touring with the show this year, but when we came back to where the artists and I live and want to grow as an artist it was great as London is the hub of dance.”

Rachel said she had such a good time touring the show that she is already planning on putting on another next year.

“The last show was a highlight but just working together as a team and just having a lot of fun as a group was amazing,” she said.
