Thousands of fans have descended on a packed Westfield Stratford City tonight to see Rihanna switch on the Christmas lights.
The RnB superstar is expected meet a few of her 15,000 devotees after heralding the start of the festive season at the shopping centre.
She performed the track Diamonds, a track from her new album ‘Unapologetic’, on a stage set up in Westfield’s Cherry Park area and visitors were also greeted by a display of pyrotechnics and lasers. The display could be seen - and heard - loud and clear across Stratford.
It is the second successive year the centre management has secured a global superstar to usher in the festive season. Justin Bieber jetted in last year to switch on the lights.
Rihanna was reportedly paid around 5million to perform the role this year.
