A four-year restoration project costing £275,000 to overhaul a historic church in Plaistow has been completed.

The Memorial Church, in Barking Road, built in the 1920s underwent repairs to stop rain and damp coming in to the Grade-II listed building.

The Welcome Centre, at the back of the church, also had a makeover with new skylights, windows and French doors installed.

A celebration took place to mark the end of the project and show off the improvements.

Funding came from the Repair Grants for Listed Places of Worship scheme by English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
