Residents and staff evacuated in Manor Park hotel fire

Firefighters tackled a major blaze at a Manor Park hotel in the early hours of this morning.

Residents and staff got themselves out of the Courtney Hotel in Aldersbrook Road, Manor Park, shortly before the London Fire Brigade arrived at 2.23am.

One woman resident was treated at the scene by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.

Eight fire appliances, around 40 firefighters, tackled the blaze, said a London Fire Brigade spokesman.

The first and second floors of the hotel were damaged by the fire.

“37 hotel residents and staff had self-evacuated themselves from the building,” he said.

The brigade received more than 20 calls to the blaze.
