Details collected from Olympic ticket buyers will be passed on to a third party.

Games organisers Locog say the move means millions of people will be able to hear about volunteering opportunities and upcoming sporting events.

Locog chairman Seb Coe said: “I’m delighted that we’ll be able to continue to keep the public in the loop.

“This process is all about looking for the right partner to help us build the strongest possible sporting, volunteering and cultural legacy for the long term.”
