Probe as man dies after fall at West Ham station

PUBLISHED: 11:20 13 December 2011 | UPDATED: 11:23 13 December 2011

An inquiry has been sparked after a man apparently collapsed and later died following an incident at West Ham Tube Station on Saturday.

The 24-year-old was with British Transport Police (BTP) officers at the time of his fall to the ground on a Jubilee Line platform at around 11pm.

Officers performed resuscitation until London Ambulance Service arrived and took the man, from Romford, to The Royal London Hospital where he died the following day of a head injury.

BTP said they were reviewing CCTV and conducting an investigation to help establish how the man collapsed and suffer his injury. BTP has voluntarily referred the incident to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

BTP remains in control of the investigation.

They said full support is being given to the man’s family by a BTP family liaison officer.
