Chobham Academy – in Stratford’s East Village – played host to Joko Widodo, leader of the Southeast Asian country, which is the fourth most populous in the world.

The day was organised by charity Football for Peace Global, which hopes to empower young people with skills they can use to break down religious, ethnic and social barriers and become “ambassadors for peace”.

During yesterday’s event, which was also attended by British government officials, Chobham students even managed to snatch a selfie with “Jokowi”.

Football for Peace’s CEO, Jayraj Jadeja, praised the “power of football” in bringing together people of diverse communities.
