A 160-room hotel is set to be built in Canning Town as part of a £360 million development.

Premier Inn owner Whitbread completed a leasehold deal with Galliford Try, who are constructing the 1,100-home Silvertown Way development.

The hotel would occupy three floors, with retail and restaurant units below and 22 floors of residential units above it.

Around 45 jobs are expected to be created as part of the £17.8m deal.

Louise Woodruff, acquisition manager for Premier Inn in London, said: “We’re expanding across the capital with an emphasis on city centre locations and also the important district centres within the outer boroughs. We want to give our guests the best and most comprehensive choice of locations right across London and this new site at Canning Town will help us to do exactly that.”

Subject to gaining planning permission, the hotel has an estimated opening date of summer 2020.
