Dawid Krzysztof Raducki, 20, was killed after falling from the Gooseley Lane footbridge, East Ham, onto the westbound carriageway of arterial road and colliding with a lorry just after 5am on Wednesday, October 2.

He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 6am.

Officers await the result of a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Motorists and buses suffered extensive delays while the road was closed for nearly seven hours by police investigating the incident, with both westbound lanes only opening again around midday.

Queues stretched as far back as Ferry Lane, Rainham, close to seven miles away from the scene of the incident.

Traffic police, fire brigade crews, two ambulances and the crew from London’s Air Ambulance travelled by road to attend.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Despite extensive efforts from our staff, sadly the patient was pronounced dead at the scene by the doctor from the air ambulance.”

Firefighters said the man had been freed from under the vehicle by medical staff before they arrived.

Any witnesses are urged to contact the Road Death Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath on 020 8597 4874.
