The executive headteacher of a Plaistow primary school has been shortlisted as one of the best in the country.
Paul Harris, who is in charge at Curwen Primary and Nursery School, is one of eight finalists for the TES Awards’ Headteacher of the Year Award.
He took over at the Atlas Road school in 2006 and since then has seen it become recognised as an outstanding school by Ofsted.
Paul said: “I am lucky enough to have a great team to work with and particularly proud and delighted that the school has been recognised in this way.”
He was praised by the school’s chair of governors, Andi Smith, who said: “Paul has an infectious love and passion for learning and always demonstrates integrity and honesty in his work.
“I count him as our most valuable asset.”
The TES Awards are now in their seventh year and recognise the contribution made to education by teams and individuals.
Paul will find out whether he has been crowned Britain’s best headteacher at a ceremony in the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London on Friday, June 19.
