You’d be forgiven for thinking you were in hit movie Jurassic World if you walked through the Stratford Centre at the weekend.

Giant dinosaur models were on display in the shopping centre, while budding archaeologists could dig for fossils in a special sandpit.

The event, in response to the release of the fourth film in the Jurassic Park series, was held in conjunction with the Natural History Museum and Stratford Picture House.

They put on a badge making workshop, allowing children to identify as a dinosaur scientist, tour guide or security worker.

Crafty youngsters could also make their own fridge magnets and design a hybrid dinosaur.

A spokeswoman for the Stratford Centre called it an “innovative event”.

She added: “Children giggled with excitement and joy as they joined the highly trained palaeontologists to dust for fossils and learn about the Jurassic era.”

Any trip to a dinosaur world wouldn’t be complete without a picture or two with the legendary creatures, and a Jurassic Jeep provided shoppers with the chance to snap a unique selfie.
