Road runners from across Newham saw their times tumble as they raised thousands of pounds by running the London Marathon.
Twelve members of the East End Road Runners pounded the 26.2 mile course, with four marathon debutants crossing the finish line.
Allyson Johnson, 48, only took up running two years ago and finished her first marathon in five hours 47 minutes.
Allyson, of Perth Road, Plaistow, raised £500 for the Drop In Bereavement Centre, which provides support to those who have lost loved ones.
She said: “I had an amazing day and really enjoyed it.
“The support along the way was fantastic and there were hardly any places that were not full of people.”
It was a family affair on Sunday as her son Jacob, 14, represented Newham in the three mile mini marathon, completing it in 19 minutes 33 seconds.
The club’s fastest marathon runner was Nuno Andrade, 31, who completed it in a personal best time of two hours 55 minutes.
Other runners who saw their records fall included Phillip Minns, 43, who raised £500 for the Macmillan Cancer Trust by finishing the course in three hours six minutes.
Beckton residents Lucy Johnson and Patrick Seaman raised £3,000 for Phab Kids, which supports disabled young people and their families.
The other runners from the club to complete the race were Peter Apps and Alejandro Folch-Coll, who recorded personal bests, and Peter Grant, Alex Folch, Andre Ellis, Clare Tyler, Glen Lowman and Paula Need.
Members of the borough’s only dedicated road running club also helped out on the day by handing out water and transporting baggage.
