A man has died after he was involved in a road accident with a car in Beckton this morning.
Police were called to Royal Albert Way, close to the roundabout, just before 9.30am to reports that a pedestrian had been in collision with a Citroen Berlingo.
Paramedics also attended but the 67-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem examination will be arranged shortly.
Royal Albert Way was closed in both directions for most of the day at the junction with Stansfeld Road while investigation work was carried out.
A Met Police spokesman said the driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
