A dad-of-five has described the “terrible” moment he witnessed the aftermath of a crash between a bus and bin lorry.

Shah Hadi was walking to Upton Park station shortly after midday on Monday, when he saw that the 104 bus to Stratford had collided with a dust cart directly outside the Tube station.

“It was really terrible,” said the East Ham resident.

“The bin lorry was on its front and the bus right by Upton Park station, I don’t know how it happened.”

“The front windscreen was partly broken. I’m a father of five and my children travel on the bus, so it’s worrying that something like that happen so easily.”

A spokesman for TfL confirmed that the bus driver had suffered minor head injuries. He was taken by London Ambulance Service to Newham Hospital.

Green Street was closed in both directions immediately after the accident and reopened shortly after 2pm.
