Christmas might be behind us but that didn’t stop pupils from embracing the pantomime spirit at a special performance.

Youngsters from Britannia Village Primary School were treated to a viewing of Robin Hood at Theatre Royal Stratford East and were even able to meet the cast afterwards.

The VIP visit for 70 children and their teachers was sponsored by the Silvertown Partnership, the team behind the regeneration of the school’s neighbour Millennium Mills.

Linda-May Bingham, the Westwood Road school’s headteacher, said: “Pupils at Britannia Village Primary School are hugely interested in the development at Silvertown.

“The Silvertown Partnership has been engaging local young people about the future of their area and what they want to see but this was a real treat for these pupils to get sponsored to go to the panto.”

Robin Hood is running until January 23 at Stratford East Theatre Royal.
