A MAN and a woman have been remanded in custody accused of the murder of a 15-year-old boy who was found dead in a bath in a flat in Newham.

Eric Baikubi, 27, and a Magaline Bamu, also 27 - both of Hathaway Crescent - were remanded in custody for two days.

The identity of the dead boy is still not being released at this stage by officers yet.

A post-mortem examination at East Ham mortuary yesterday failed to determine the exact cause of death and police are awaiting the results of further tests.

The man and a woman were both charged in the early hours of this morning, with murdering the boy at the eighth floor flat in Hathaway Crescent.

The boy, who was found in Hathaway Crescent, on Christmas Day, had suffered a “number of injuries”, police said.

The pair appeared before Stratford Magistrates, sitting at Thames Magistrates Court. They will re-appear at the Old Bailey.

The woman spoke through an interpreter, only to confirm her name.

The Child Abuse Investigation Command are investigating the death. They took four children releated to the dead boy into their care for their own protection.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service at about 12.15pm to reports a boy had drowned. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were yesterday lunchtime granted extra time to question the two people who have now been charged.
